Is vicodin bad when your pregnant??

i was just in to see my maternaty coodenator and she told me that i needed to go to the dentist to get my wisdom teeth pulled because it is considered a open wound and if i dont it could cause harm to my baby and the paper that i was to give to the dentist said that for pain management i can take tylonol#3 or vicodin. but i thought vicodin was a narcotic and could harm the baby alot more then a bad tooth should i talk to my doctor or should i trust that the recomendation is safe?
