Why do men not take responsibility for their children?

I was a single mother at 16 (regret not having an abortion, i don't regret my child, just not having an abortion) I can't get help from the State, my parents make too much. The Father doesn't pay support or see his children. Thise seems to be an epidemic, I seen 16 and pregnant and it seems like all men are the same way. How can a parent raise their son to be so irresponsible and uncaring?
