How can I recover a file from word 2007 when it says - "ilegal qualified name character" when I try and open i?

I am not an expert - just remembering things that have sometimes worked for me in a similar situation. When you right click, will it allow you just to read it? Or, even better, to print it? Will it copy it? Maybe if you can get it to print it you might be able to print it as a .pdf file? Good luck anyway!
