Dear United States, when will we learn?

Does anyone else out there believe that many of our (the US) troubles could be alleviated simply by having an educated nation? I know that begs the question as to what is an educated nation, but let's ume that it at least entails critical thinking and an open mind to new ideas. Why don't we stop bickering and blaming and really look at the root of the matter. We will NEVER move forward as a human race until we are able to thoughtfully examine issues using our own intellect and emotional rationalism. That isn't something most people are born with - it has to be taught. Otherwise, youth will react to what is around them and most of what out there is negative and, quite simply, dumb. I know this is vague and not directed at any one people or issue, but I just wanted to put the question out there. I would be happy to get specific.
