Is the U.N. an obsolete organization?

Quite simply put yes. Although it started out with the best intentions of uniting the world under a common law of nations, human nature has undercut this organization. There are just too many regimes worldwide that either do not respect the UN or use it and its resources for their own gain with no regard for fellow nations. I believe that the UN will be completely ineffective in dealing with non nation entities such as Hezbollah and Al-Qaida now and in the future. These rogue elements are the enemy in this world war raging now, that the UN seems powerless to stop. Nor does it even acknowledge that this war is taking place. With its mive bureaucracy and corruption the UN cannot move decisively in the ever changing political landscape of the 21st century.
